TESLALAND

In Grünheide, Brandenburg, one of Europe’s most ambitious industrial projects has been taking shape since 2020: the Tesla Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. This photo series documents the profound transformation of the landscape – from a dense pine forest to a symbol of innovation, economic ambition, and the global shift toward electric mobility. The first images capture the untouched woodland, a place that for decades served as a water protection area and a habitat for wildlife. As the clearing began, the tension between environmental preservation, political decisions, and industrial development became increasingly visible. Trees fell, soil was torn open, and the forest’s quiet was replaced by the sounds of heavy machinery. The following stages of the series reveal the rapid industrialization of the site – access roads being built, foundations poured, and cranes towering above the former forest floor. The contrast is stark: where there was once nature, now stand concrete structures, steel frameworks, and symbols of technological progress. But these images tell more than just a story of destruction or development – they raise urgent questions: What does sustainability mean in a world striving for both climate neutrality and economic growth? How do we value natural resources when global industries collide with local resistance and climate goals? This photo series serves as a visual chronicle of conflict – between natural space and industrial zone, between global ambition and local identity. It invites viewers to pause, reflect, and engage in the ongoing dialogue around progress, responsibility, and the future of our environment.
